We are now halfway into the second week of our five week dig. Everything is going as planned so far, we’ve reached some interesting results especially on the street surrounding the central block. Here, both human and animal bones have been found in abundance as well as several artifacts. The human remains are mostly scattered fragments of bodies, representing at least three individuals.
In connection to one of the concentrations of human bones in the street, we found an arrowhead of iron that may actually have been used in the massacre. This particular type of arrowhead is not for hunting but is to be regarded as a lethal, armour-piercing weapon.
We are planning a number of guided tours of the site during the dig, schedule for this (and much more) can be found at www.sandbyborg.se. An english tour is offered on Tuesday June 21st at 10 o’clock. Welcome!
