In 2017 a workshop was held at Kalmar County Museum about Virtual Reality (VR). The workshop was the third as a part of the project ‘Sandby Borg – A Virtual Connection. Creating relevant dialogue through cultural heritage with Virtual Reality.’ The project researches how VR technology can be used as a tool in order to create strong emotions connected to the gruesome events that took place at Sandby borg. It aims to create a discussion about the event and relate it to present time.
Virtual Reality opens up possibilities to mix different kinds of media such as sound, 3D, film, photo etc. By combing different media within an interactive experience where the user can discover finds or explore the space, it can create a powerful and immersive experience.
The project is a collaboration between Department of Museum Archaeology at Kalmar County Museum, RISE Interactive C-studio, Linnaeus University: GRASCA and is funded by The Swedish foundation for Humanities and Social Sciences
